Well, I don't know about you but the recent disaster regarding the Sunrise Celebration and The Big Chill Festival 2008 was a complete success (the rain was a success). The organizers thought that a water logged field would somehow dry out overnight (eh?) and be ready the next day.
Unfortunately for many it was not a great day out. Punters that made the event before Friday were left trapped within the site while the rest were turned away.
Refunds for the tickets were given, but that ain't the only cost now is it? Fuel, tents, food, alcohol, taxi-fares. All this adds up and is not refunded.
Personally I feel for everyone who missed what would've been a great weekend. It ain't all horror stories though, and some peeps managed to have a good time despite the storm.
I prey that this is not a sign of things to come. Flash storms are the biggest threat to festivals and can cost the organizers tens of thousands in lost revenue. Perhaps we should all learn to sundance. Just like the kid, eh?
